About DolphinIndex

Search is changing faster than at any time in the last twenty years. Engines that once returned links now write answers, assistants search the web in the middle of a conversation, and new tools appear every month for research, code and company documents. Most lists of these tools are written to sell something or rank them on criteria nobody can check.

DolphinIndex takes a plainer approach. We describe what each search tool does in our own words, link to its official site and note the facts we have confirmed, such as whether it shows sources, has a free plan or offers an API. We don't score tools or publish best-of lists. The aim is to help you build a short list quickly and then test the tools yourself on the questions you actually ask.

DolphinIndex is run by Zwings LLC. Corrections from readers and tool makers are welcome, and every one is checked by a person before a listing changes.

Search tools change quickly. Engines add AI answers, change which partners power their results and update their privacy terms, so we describe what each tool is for and what to check, rather than scoring it. A listing tells you a tool exists and what it does; testing it on your own questions tells you whether it suits you.

Facts on each listing, such as whether a tool shows its sources or has a developer API, are set only when we have confirmed them. Anything we haven't confirmed shows as not enough info. Paid placements are always labeled Sponsored and never change our descriptions.
