Brave Search

Brave Search is the search engine from the company behind the Brave browser. Unlike many alternatives, it runs its own web index instead of renting results from a larger engine, which means its results can differ from what you see elsewhere.

For many questions it shows an AI-written answer above the results, with links to the pages used, and you can ask follow-up questions. It is free to use with ads, and there is a paid option without them. The same index is sold to developers as the Brave Search API, which AI companies and app makers use to ground their own answers.

Brave says it doesn't profile users or keep a search history tied to you. You can use Brave Search in any browser; it is the default in the Brave browser, where the Leo assistant can also search.
