Search engine that says it doesn't build profiles of its users, with optional AI answers and a private AI chat.
DuckDuckGo is a search engine built around not tracking people. Its policy says it doesn't keep a search history tied to you or build a profile for ad targeting, and its ads are based on the words you searched. It also makes a browser for phones and computers with tracker blocking built in.
It has added AI in ways you can switch off. Search Assist can put a short AI-written answer above results for some queries, and Duck.ai lets you chat with several third-party AI models through DuckDuckGo, which says it removes your IP address before passing chats on.
Results come partly from other indexes, so for very local or niche queries you may still try another engine. If privacy is the reason you are switching, read its privacy policy and the Duck.ai terms, and check your settings for whether AI answers appear by default.
